This year, our country is hosting the APMP Mid-Year Meetings in Bohol, Philippines. As the Director of the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to all of you!

This year's meeting promises to be an enriching experience, with a diverse agenda. Our mid-year meeting is a significant event that brings together experts, professionals, and stakeholders from across the Asia Pacific region to engage in meaningful discussions and tackle important issues on regulating and advancing metrology practices. About Bohol

Bohol is an island province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region, consisting of the island itself and 75 minor surrounding islands. Its capital is Tagbilaran, which is known as the “City of Friendship”. With a land area of 4,821 km² and a coastline 261 km long, Bohol is the tenth largest island of the Philippines.

Bohol is a first-class province divided into 3 congressional districts, comprising one component city and 47 municipalities. With a tourism branding “Behold Bohol”, the province is a popular tourist destination with its beaches and resorts, geologic sites, and historical landmarks. Get to know more about Bohol here.

This year’s APMP Mid-Year Meetings will be held in Panglao, the southernmost town in Bohol. It is located in Panglao Island, along with another town called Dauis. It is the most popular tourist spot in Bohol known for its white sand beaches, diving sites, and marine life.

Meeting Venue

This year’s meeting venue will be held at The Bellevue Pavilion of The Bellevue Resort located in Barangay Doljo, Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. The Bellevue Resort is a multi-awarded luxury 5-star resort, and leader in luxe getaways nestled on the serene shores of Panglao Island.

Notable for its environmentally-friendly systems and programmes, the resort takes pride in being a recipient of the prestigious ASEAN Green Hotel Hall of Fame, ANAHAW awards, and also recognized as one of TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Hall of Fame awardees in Asia.

Philippine VISA

Information on Visa to the Philippines is available at https://dfa-oca.ph/visa/visa-general-info/.

The Philippines grants visa-free entry to passport holders of certain countries while requiring a visa to others. Generally, foreign nationals who wish to enter the Philippines require a visa unless the visitor is:

- A citizen of a member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam).

- A citizen of a non-ASEAN member state whose nationals are allowed to enter the Philippines visa-free (EU Member States, Canada, Australia, and the USA).

However, the visa-free entry permission only applies to short-term stays of up to 30 days.

Participants are responsible for checking the visa requirements for travel to the Philippines. Please make sure your passport is valid for at least six (6) months beyond the contemplated visit in the Philippines. It is advisable to file the visa application at the Philippine Foreign Service Posts at country of origin at least one (1) month prior the scheduled flight.

Transportation

Flights from Outside of the Philippines to Bohol Bohol is accessible via direct flight from Manila. If you’re coming from outside of the Philippines, you will have to fly to Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The NAIA is connected to several international destinations in North East and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, North America, and Europe. International flights arrive at NAIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. From the Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, you can fly directly to the New Bohol International Airport in Panglao Island, Bohol. In addition to this, direct flights to Bohol from Incheon International Airport(ICN) and Busan International Airport(PUS), South Korea via Jeju Airlines and Air Busan are also available, subject to seat availability. All passengers traveling to the Philippines must complete eTravel registration both ahead of their journey and before departing the country. You may register within 72 hours (3 days) prior to your arrival into or departure from the Philippines. Once completed, you will receive a QR code or barcode to present on arrival or departure. The https://etravel.gov.ph is the only official website of eTravel.
Flights from the NAIA to the Bohol Province The Bohol-Panglao International Airport(TAG) services the whole Bohol Province. This airport opened last November 2018. It replaced the old airport that used to be in Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol Province. The Bohol-Panglao Airport is dubbed the “Green Gateway to the World” and the first eco-airport in the Philippines because of its environment-friendly equipment and facilities. Flights from Manila (MNL) to Bohol-Panglao(TAG) and vice versa are available daily with an estimated travel time of 1 hour and 35 minutes. Here are the recommended flights to choose from:

Flight availability and schedule may be subjected to changes. The abovementioned airlines also offer international flights that can be connected with a flight to Bohol. Please note that NAIA terminals are in separate buildings that are not connected, so be mindful and double-check which terminal you fall under. Free shuttle buses are available for traveling between terminals. Kindly look for the “Terminal Transfer Counter” for assistance. Alternatively, you may transfer via taxi or car service (Grab).
Transportation from Bohol-Panglao International Airport to Accommodation The host will arrange airport-to-hotel transfers based on the declared arrival and departure schedule of attendees. Kindly inform the host representative of your itinerary (flight number, arrival and departure time and accomodation name), preferably before June 14, 2024 through this online form: https://bit.ly/2024APMPMYM_FlightAccomDetails Please note that host arranged transfers will start from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily starting June 23, 2024 until June 29, 2024. Should your arrival and/or departure is not within the schedule provided, kindly arrange airport-to-hotel transfers with your accommodation.

Useful Information

Local Currency:

- The official monetary unit in the Philippines is the Philippine peso (PHP). The symbol for the peso is ₱.

- The exchange rate can be found on the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas website. Currency exchange is available at the airport, hotels, banks, and exchange bureaus.

- Most hotels, travel agencies and restaurants accept major credit cards. Most banks are equipped to process credit card cash withdrawals.

- The carrying of foreign currency over USD 10,000 or its equivalent in other foreign currencies must be declared to a Customs Officer.

Climate:

- Bohol has a tropical climate, with warm temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. The average temperature is 27 °C and the average humidity is 80%.

- Bohol in June marks the start of the wet season in which rainfall and thunderstorms will be frequent.

Language:

The two official languages of the Philippines are Filipino and English. Dialects used by locals in Bohol are Boholano-Cebuano and Tagalog. English is used in hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. Most taxi drivers speak some English. It is recommended that you write down the address of your destination.

Dress Code:

Business dress for meetings and smart casual attire are appropriate for social events.

Electricity power supply:

Voltage supply: The Philippines operates on a 220 V supply voltage and 60 Hz. Most electrical outlets in the Philippines are non-grounded two-pronged outlets of either type A (North American standard) with two flat parallel pins.

It is best to bring with you an appropriate adaptor for your chargers and electrical gadgets for convenience. Some hotels would have adapters available for their guests’ use upon request (for free, for rent or sale). You could also find adaptors sold in convenience stores or small kiosks, especially in the cities and in the most touristic areas of the Philippines.

FAQ's

Our country is not eligible for visa-free travel to the Philippines. What do we need do?

Kindly contact the Philippine Embassy / Consulate Office in your country for the requirements to obtain visa. Once confirmed, email event host at nmlphil@itdi.dost.gov.ph to request needed documents such as official invitation letter, request letter to designated consular office, etc.

Processing of requested documents may require at least 7 to 14 days to be completed.

Our accommodation is not listed in the recommended hotels. How do we get to the meeting venue each day?

It is advised to take the daily shuttle service that will be available at designated locations. Please see TRANSPORTATION tab for details. Please be at the designated pick-up locations at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. Shuttle schedule will be released at least 1 week before the event.

I want to join the Technical/Cultural tour but I chose “No” in the online registration form. Can I still participate in this activity?

You may still signify your interest in participating in the Technical/Cultural Tour by emailing the event host at nmlphil@itdi.dost.gov.ph. However, we cannot guarantee if slot/s will still be available by the time of request.

Can any of my family member/s join in the APMP Mid-Year Meetings Dinner or in the Technical/Cultural Tour?

We regret that only APMP delegates are invited to the dinner and tour.

Can you recommend nearby locations to visit after the meetings?

Delegates may visit the following locations of sight-seeing or dinner:

Moadto Strip Mall - a 2-level mall beside the Modala Beach Resort that offers an amazing beach front for sunset viewing, restaurants with various continental cuisines, and different shops for every need.

From Bellevue Resort: Ride a tricycle from the resort to Moadto Mall. Rate ranges from ₱50-₱100.

Alona Beach - a 1.5 kilometer stretch of white sand beach with various dine-in options to choose from. However, most establishments only accept cash payments. There are also more restaurants on the main road of the Alona Beach area.

From Bellevue Resort: Ride a tricycle from the resort to Alona Beach. Rate ranges from ₱200-₱250.
